As a player, few broke the mould in the way Frank Lampard has. He's left a legacy on the pitch though now it's on the sidelines, at the training ground and in the dugout where he's looking to lead once more. Taking over as the Manager at Derby County, his first job at the helm comes with strong pedigree. Going behind the scenes ahead of the official announcement, this pictoral piece tells the story as Lampard joined The Rams.

A leader on the pitch who racked up countless awards, individually, Lampard was a standout gem. Given a resounding level of peer approval, in 2005 he was runner up in the Ballon d'Or. As a captain and a team all rounder, the collective honours he has to his name are on another level:
Premier League: 2004/2005, 2005/2006, 2009/2010
FA Cup: 2006/2007, 2008/2009, 2009/2010, 2011/2012
League Cup: 2004/2005, 2006/2007
Community Shield: 2005/2006, 2009/2010
UEFA Champions League: 2011/2012
UEFA Europa League: 2012/2013

Taking that winning way with him wherever he has gone, the aspirations of Lampard will be high as he heads to the helm at Derby County. Derby too are a club where silverware is no stranger. A title winning force once upon a time, it was with Brian Clough in charge where they rose through the divisions to win the First Division (now Premier League) in 1972. Lampard lands as a big name and with a solid fan base and previous Premier League experience, it's a return to the top flight that will be earmarked with expectation. An exciting time to be a Derby fan, the future is looking fruitful.
