Donuts are an integral part of the Weslee origin story. The properly infectious wonky-pop slash experimental r&b duo- comprised of Kansa native Josh and London-born vocalist Emma - first bonded over their mutual lust for American style whole wheat glazed rings (English donuts are "f***ing terrible" according to Josh). Starting out as a behind the scenes songwriting dream team, they wrote their first official Weslee track, "Gassed", unintentionally after feigning food poisoning and cancelling a writing session with a 12 year old wannabe pop star.
Having never planned to write their own material, let own front it as a band, they initially launched the project anonymously behind a giant pair of bombastic illustrated lips. The transatlantic pair have since stepped into the spotlight to release their debut EP, 9F; it's jam packed with Weslee's signature flesh flows, bouncy production hooks tdf. We took the production and trouble duo to get the 411 and sample London's donut scene.
